Wood & Stained glass

Hi I’m Jane and I live in Bawdrip, Somerset. I love making beautiful things and capturing the wonder of nature.

Why do you craft / make?

I create unique art mostly inspired by the beauty of nature: sculptures, woodcarving, stained glass artwork (including stunning light catchers), mosaics, lino-prints, photography, drawings and paintings. I also write articles, poetry and prose

What are your favourite projects?

Hmmm...an interesting question! I’d say whatever new piece I happen to be working on. I’m designing a honeybee sculpture now and also carving an octopus which has taken me two years – a labour of love

What do you do to keep yourself, space and time organised?

Ha ha! I try to be tidy, but can’t seem to do so...I am fortunate enough to have a lovely warm workshop at home, which used to be a bedroom.

What are your can’t live without craft essentials?

Ooh, now let me think...circle cutter for stained glass, Radio 4, scalpels and a myriad collection of adhesives for every occasion

How would you describe your style?

Unique, Sensitive, colourful, beautiful, stunning

Where do you look for inspiration?

Nature. Mostly the ideas come to me without me trying. Like a bee flying into the room and landing straight inside my imagination.

We live in such a mass-produced society, why should people continue to make things by hand?

I believe that what we design and then create with our hands comes directly from our hearts. Or soul. When I make a piece of art I put a lot of myself into it. I really want to impart the excitement I feel when designing and creating. My wish is for the recipient to really enjoy owning my art and feel happy every time they look at it.

Do you take custom request?

Yes I do. Sculptures, stained glass work: you name it. I recently started drawing pet portraits, which are becoming very popular
