Hello! I’m Natasha and I am a watercolour artist. I love the landscape, wildlife and plants which surround me in Somerset and I also love colour. I paint originals which I then also sell as cards, prints and other goodies.
1) Why do you craft/ make?
I paint because I can’t stop myself from painting! I particularly like watercolour because it can do unexpected things, which makes each painting a bit of an adventure.
2) What do you do to keep yourself, space and time organised?
I don’t have a dedicated studio space, so all my work is done at the kitchen table. This forces me to be organised as we have to have somewhere to eat!
3) What are your can’t live without craft essentials?
My brushes are very important. A rubbish brush can really spoil a painting.
4) How would you describe your style?
I always find this question so hard to answer. Colour is important to me, as is communicating the feel of a place. I find the natural world very beautiful and hope this comes across in my work.
5) Where do you look for inspiration?
My inspiration comes from the everyday world around me – and I am lucky to live in such a stunning county. This can range from the wide, open landscapes of the Somerset Levels to something as small as washing flapping dry on the line on a sunny day.
6) We live in such a mass-produced society, why should people continue to make things by hand?
A hand-made object is so much more than just the object itself. It contains something of the person who made it, and this is very precious. It is a bit like having a piece of poetry which you can hold.
7) Do you take custom request?
Yes. I have completed commissions including portraits of much-loved pets, meaningful views and landscapes - and even a camper van! I always find custom requests very rewarding to do.
